About The Philosophy of Composition

The Philosophy of Composition is a long essay (4274 words, according to WordPerfect 9) written by Edgar Allen Poe. Unfortunately, I don't recall how I came across the work. However, I believe that it can be found on Project Gutenberg. The copy I used is found at the website of American Studies at the University of Virgina. Given the date of the work, and the fact that Mr. Poe wrote in English (ergo no translation required), I believe it is squarely in the Public Domain.

The work is presented on this blog first as test for placing large texts online - I am considering placing my original work online; second, to determine the suitability of Blogger for a blook; and, third, because it is an important work for any creative writer to ponder. I found it to be most informative as it is truly for the advanced writer.
