Preface (though really a glossary):
- DP is Digital Point's forums for internet marketing and search engines (and more);
- B/S/T refers to DP's Buy, Sell or Trade forum.
From all appearances, I have been scammed. Seemingly, it shouldn’t be that difficult to know, but there is a question in my mind. I’ll share that question in due time. First, I want to advance the circumstances - from my point of view; that’s all I truly know.
I lurked about DP for some time so to get a feel for the forums. It was rather an informative place, and from what I perused, it looked like I’d not only be able to make some money through writing, but I’d be able to learn a few of the nuances in mastering my web. I registered as MeMyselfAndI. I jumped through the hoops. I looked for opportunities and found a few right away. Among them was one from napoleonfirst asking for “Very short article modifications.”
Well, after negotiating the deal, I completed the rewrites. Unfortunately, I was an hour late, both because the articles required extensive rewriting and, while they were short, the work took longer than I thought. Still, since napoleonfirst had accommodated my timeline, I didn’t think an hour would matter. I sent them back, sent a PayPal request for payment, and sent him a private message through the forums. I even asked for more work.
Nothing.
I reviewed the private messages and the thread where I found the job, and I waited. Still nothing. Then, clearing out my computer’s mailbox folders, I also reviewed the e-mails - his and mine. I had attached the same articles I was to rewrite!
I couldn’t believe my stupidity. Quickly, I corrected the mistake. I sent him a new e-mail with the right attachment, and I sent another private message. True, it was almost four days later.
Still nothing.
So, was I scammed? Is napoleonfirst's silence indicative of his guilt? Or is it condemnation of my "incompetence?" I have posted the details separately, not because you want to know them, but because the facts ought be available.
Now you know why there are ten dog articles on my blog.
